Before you can begin your Invisalign treatment, you must first meet with Dr. Escoto or Dr. Mantovani for a consultation. During the consultation, we will determine if you’re a good candidate for the treatment by taking x-rays and examining your teeth. If we determine Invisalign can help you achieve your desired results, we will take impressions of your teeth and send them off to the Invisalign lab. The lab then constructs each set of aligners for your treatment.

Invisalign works similarly to other orthodontic treatments like traditional braces. Instead of using brackets and wires to move teeth, it uses clear plastic aligners instead. Each set of aligners has minor differences that apply light pressure to your teeth to gradually help them shift into position.

Once you receive your aligners from the lab, you will wear each set for about two weeks or our recommended time. Patients must wear the aligners for at least 22 hours per day and only remove them to eat, drink, or clean their teeth. After eating meals, patients must also brush their teeth to prevent bacteria and plaque building up on the aligners. After two weeks, you will move onto the next set of aligners. About every six weeks or so, you will visit our Miami Beach dental office so we can check on your progress. Most patients only take six months to two years to complete their entire Invisalign treatment. After you complete your treatment, you will need to wear a retainer to prevent your teeth from shifting.

Benefits of Invisalign

Teens and adults will love all of the different benefits that come with Invisalign treatment. If you’ve ever avoided orthodontic treatment because you didn’t want to wear metal braces, explore the different benefits of Invisalign to see how it differs.

Comfort

One of the best benefits of Invisalign is how comfortable the treatment is. Since you switch aligners every two weeks, the movements in your mouth are much smaller which means your mouth won’t feel as sore as it would with metal braces. In addition, Invisalign aligners are made of thin and smooth plastic. You never have to worry about cutting up your cheeks, lips, or tongue on your aligners at any time.

Convenience

Another benefit of Invisalign is how convenient it is. Since you can remove the aligners, you can eat whatever you want during your entire treatment. It’s also easy to visit the dentist or clean your teeth. All you have to do is take your aligners out and it’s like you don’t even have braces. Just make sure you don’t leave the aligners out for more than two hours per day; otherwise, you might delay the progress of your treatment.

Discreetness

The most important benefit of Invisalign and the main reason why so many patients choose it is because of how discreet it is. The clear aligners are nearly invisible to the naked eye which means your treatment can be a complete secret between you and your dentist if you want.
